Privacy policy
Effective: 2026-08-20
This policy explains what BagsAndYards (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit bagsandyards.com, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived — if something here is unclear, ask us.
The short version
- There are no accounts on this site and nothing to sign up for.
- What you type into a calculator never leaves your browser. Every calculator runs entirely as JavaScript on your own device. Your dimensions are not transmitted to us, not logged, and not stored.
- We use Google Analytics to count visits in aggregate.
- We use Google AdSense to show ads, which uses cookies.
- We do not sell personal information.
Information we collect
Information you give us
Only what you put in an email. If you contact us, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to deal with it and to keep a record of any correction it prompted.
Calculator inputs — not collected
Worth stating plainly because it is unusual: the calculators are static pages with client-side JavaScript. There is no server-side application and no database. Room sizes, slab dimensions, budgets and any other value you enter are computed in your browser and discarded when you leave the page. We could not retrieve them if we wanted to.
Information collected automatically
Like nearly all websites, our hosting provider and our analytics and advertising partners automatically receive technical information when you load a page: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, the pages you view, and timestamps. This is used to keep the site working, understand which pages are useful, and serve ads.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. We use them for two purposes only — measurement and advertising. We set no cookies for personalisation, profiling of our own, or logins, because there are no logins.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where they come from. This is reported to us in aggregate — we cannot see individual visitors’ identities. You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to display advertising. The standard disclosures apply:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
- Where required, Google’s advertising products present a consent message before setting non-essential cookies, and your choice is honoured.
Opting out of personalised ads does not remove advertising — it makes the ads you see non-personalised. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the calculators will continue to work normally, since they never depended on cookies.
Third parties we rely on
- Cloudflare Pages — hosting and content delivery, including security and abuse logging.
- Google Analytics — aggregate audience measurement.
- Google AdSense — advertising.
- Affiliate and partner networks — when you click a link marked as an affiliate or partner link, the destination and its network may set their own cookies to attribute the referral. Their privacy policies govern what happens after you leave this site.
We deliberately self-host our styling and assets. There are no external web fonts, no CDN-hosted frameworks, and no social media embeds or tracking pixels on this site, which keeps the number of parties that see your visit to the short list above.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — for example under the GDPR in the UK and EEA, or the CCPA/CPRA in California — you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, to object to processing, to data portability, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information.
We do not sell personal information for money. Some advertising cookie activity may be treated as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law; the Google Ads Settings link above is the effective opt-out for it.
To exercise any right, email hello@bagsandyards.com with “Privacy request” in the subject. Because we hold so little — typically nothing beyond an email thread, if you have written to us — most requests are quick to answer.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention and security
Email correspondence is kept while it remains useful for support and correction records, then deleted. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ configured retention period. The site is served over HTTPS. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — which is one more reason we avoid collecting anything we do not need.
International transfers
Our hosting, analytics, and advertising providers operate globally, so information described above may be processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under those providers’ own safeguards.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or which providers we use, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Material changes will be summarised here rather than buried.
